Allegory

An example of allegory, which is an analogy, symbol, or metaphor, In Frankenstein could be the relationship between Victor Frankenstein and PIECES. While planning to bring a dead back to life, Victor is really excited and passionate as to what his creation would look like. To not make it too short, he made his creation to the tallest size possible, physically fit and, moreover, he also went to the slaughter house to get dead animals. Now, looking this excitement, we could assume that he will take care of his creation more than a parent could do it for their child/ren. But, sadly, it does not turn out to be like that and, one night when PIECES comes into his room, he gets up looking horrified and runs out of the room, leaving IT all alone. This is a clear symbol of socialism, or communism, because, in a communist government, before the elections, the candidates promise democracy, peace, and the rights for everyone to have a say in the national matters but, after the leader gets elected as the president or prime minister, he/she starts to act adamantly and harshly such as not listening to wills and demands of the public and ruling the country forcefully. This is the same in Frankenstein where Victor treats PIECES harshly and neglects IT.
Archetype
An example of archetype in Frankenstein is PIECES as an "Outcast". Due to ITS ugly, weird, and gigantic body composition, PIECES is neglected everywhere he goes. One instance is when he smells something delicious and follows that smell which ends IT up in a village. When IT is seen by the old man in the hut, that old man screams and falls down. On hearing the scream, his son comes out and hits IT with the stick. This shows that, even though PIECES might be willing to adapt the human nature, it always fails somehow because of ITS unusual composition.
Another example of an archetype is Victor as the "Mad Scientist". As we know it, he has greatly passionate about science, doing research, and solving a problem in a scientific way. He is also excited and passionate about bringing the dead back to life. Therefore, he decides to create a human-like creature that would be totally made out of other parts of a dead person, or even an animal. He could be said a "Mad Scientist" because a normal scientist would be least likely to think about giving life to the dead and, not just that, but creating it out of dead bodies, animals, and tying it up with stitches. All of his thinking and the method of creating the creature clearly exemplifies Victor as a "Mad Scientist".

Catastrophe

There are a few catastrophes that could be noticed in the novel. One such catastrophe is the death of poor William, brother of Victor Frankenstein. After getting sick and tired of being neglected and isolated by mankind, PIECES decides to kill every person who tries to neglect or harass IT. First victim is William, followed by Justine, Henry Clerval, and, finally, Elizabeth. This is the biggest catastrophe because, unlike other characters, Elizabeth was very close to Victor and, after her death, he felt heartbroken and sad. In short, all of the deaths that occurred were caused by the abandonment by mankind to a creature who looked weird and unusual than all the rest.
Characterization

Characterization is a literary device that describes a character's quality and his/her personality. In Frankenstein, PIECES is the best example of characterization. In Chapter 5, IT is characterized as having yellow, watery eyes, black hair, yellow skin, teeth pearl-white, watery, shriveled complexion, and straight black lips.
Moreover, he also has a hunger for knowledge in that, when he wakes up in a jungle, he hears the voices of birds chirping. It is significant that he brought this detail in the story because, not all characters would be this brief about the surroundings. Later on, he begins to feel cold and, without any knowledge, he starts to walk around in the jungle to look for something that could warm IT up. He finds a light fire that may have been created by the campers who camped that night. Upon seeing the wood burning, he gathers more wood to build up the fire. Then, after arriving in the village, he finds a shelter home. While living with the family of the blind old man, he tries to overhear the conversations of the family members and, overtime, learns how to talk.
Finally, he also is vengeful and intelligent. After being hated by multiple people as well as by ITS own creator, PIECES decides to kill anyone who tries to do IT any harm or simply ignore IT, in order to get vengeance against Victor. Then, he eventually talks face-to-face with Victor about creating a female creature for IT. Upon the disapproval of the offer by Victor, PIECES threatens him that IT shall kill all the loved ones of his from that point onward.
