Tragic Irony
Tragic irony is a literary device in which, a character's words and/or actions brings a tragic or fatal consequence. The quote above is a firm and adamant reply from Victor Frankenstein to PIECES that he will not create another beast like IT, no matter what the consequences. To this, it clearly visible that, by words, Frankenstein has sealed the fate of his loved ones. And, the immediate result of his words is the death of Henry Clerval followed by Elizabeth.
Plot
We have two main plots in the story. One is the Ingolstadt University where Victor begins to work on his creation. It is also the place where later arrives in order to begin creating another creature similar to PIECES, but decides not to do so as it will only cause more harm because, if PIECES alone can cause so much damage, then creating another of the same kind may eventually introduce a whole new species, putting mankind into danger. Then, we have a second plot location, which is the North Pole itself. This is where the story begins from, and this is where its "denouement" occurs. Robert Walton writes a letter home to his sister saying that his crew has found a man during their sail. Eventually, it turn out to be Victor Frankenstein who was looking for PIECES up at the North Pole. But, when Victor is brought up to Walton, he tells him the entire story in a flashback, which we hear throughout the book up until the end, or present, when he is about to die and takes a promise from Walton of killing PIECES.
Crisis

Crisis is a time of severe problem or disaster. In Frankenstein, one big crisis is the problem caused by PIECES. He starts killing every character in the story one by one. First, William mistreats IT and eventually ends up dead. Justine Moritz gets trapped by PIECES, when IT leaves the necklace near her while she was sleeping, and gets blamed for the murder. So, she is prosecuted. Then, Henry Clerval gets killed and Victor is blamed for his murder, and has to spend some time in prison. Then, on the first night of Victor and Elizabeth's marriage, Elizabeth is choked to death. Therefore, just by the creation of PIECES, all of this tragedies occur and cause a lot of fear and discomfort throughout the story.
Complications
In Frankenstein, PIECES is the character with a few complications. IT is unusually tall and big, has a yellow skin, pearl white teeth, is created from organs of many dead people and animals, has stitches almost everywhere, has yellow, watery eyes, and does not have any knowledge that a normal human would have. Since IT does not have any knowledge, IT gets burned when IT puts the hand inside fire. Moreover, wherever IT goes, IT is looked down and hated by other people due to being weird looking and different.
Another complication is the murder case of William Frankenstein. On the night when the boy is murdered, nobody knows who the real murderer is until the next morning when someone finds the necklace, which was on the boy's neck, near Justine Moritz, who was sleeping in the barn. The blame goes on her since she is found with the necklace. But, when Victor hears about the news, he is immediately alerted about the murderer but, sadly, he cannot do much favor to the guilty, since nobody would believe his story. Therefore, things get a little complicated but, eventually, Moritz is prosecuted and an innocent girl dies.
